The Hindsight Project

HS Web jpeg 2What is The Hindsight Project?

The Hindsight Project is specially designed to put valid information in the hands of those still inside the FLDS. During the FLDS trials in Texas, tens of thousands of pages of FLDS documents were submitted as evidence, at which time they became public record. Most of this information has been purposely hidden from the FLDS people by the church leadership, and we want to make it readily accessible on a special website.

How will The Hindsight Project help the FLDS people?

We have done extensive research in cult psychology and interviewed several ex-members of the FLDS. Modern psychologists have been stunned by the complexity and sophistication of grooming techniques, comparing them to tactics used to turn prisoners of war against their own country. Because the FLDS Leadership uses these manipulation techniques to “brainwash” their followers, many practices of the FLDS Leadership had to be hidden from the FLDS people. The Hindsight Project will allow the FLDS people, for the first time, to review documentation that has been purposely hidden from them throughout the years.

Psychologists tell us the best way to help people in a closed society is to make valid information easily available and allow them time to read, absorb, and start to question the context of their circumstances. This strategy is much more effective than confrontation or persuasion, and creates a safer place for the psychological transition from group think to self-awareness to occur.

Why is it important to do this right now?

We have interviewed several people who recently left the FLDS and learned more about how their lives changed after the Texas trials. Stringency in some areas of FLDS life has become more lax, and many of the younger generation are starting to question the validity of their beliefs. People who have recently left told us that reading or hearing about the trial evidence was the number one factor in their decision to leave the FLDS. Unfortunately, even though these documents are public record, the procedures and costs in obtaining the information is not a realistic option for the FLDS people. Having this information available on a website will allow them to access and download documents at their convenience, without having to mail or purchase the information. Once able to review the documentation, they will have a better perspective to make a more educated decision on whether or not to remain loyal to a system that has purposely manipulated and deceived them.

How can I be a part of this important project?

The Claim Red Foundation needs your help in funding this project. There are significant costs to website development, information acquisition, and the equipment and labor needed to organize and manage a database that will handle this amount of information. The website will go up as soon as funding becomes available, and we will add information to the website as funds allow. The total estimated cost for The Hindsight Project is $20,000. We need your help in making this project a reality.

Although the parameters of the Hindsight website have been designed to prevent displays of personal bias, agenda, and comments, we will recognize contributors through RebeccaMusser.com and The Claim Red Foundation. You can make donations through Paypal on our website, or contact us at contact@rebeccamusser.com for larger contributions. Remember, we are a 501c3 non-profit organization, and your donations are tax deductible.

We are confident that The Hindsight Project is an effective tool that will make a real difference in the lives of the people still caught in the FLDS, and we are excited to see this project come to fruition.

Thank you for your support and contributions.
